Applied Mechanics Department is one of the pioneering departments of the institute. It is entrusted with teaching Engineering Mechanics subject to all the disciplines, Strength of Materials to Civil and Mechanical Engineering and subjects related to Structural Analysis and Design to Civil Engineering Students. The department also conducts post graduate course in Structural Engineering of two years duration on regular basis. The department is also recognized as a Research Centre for carrying out PhD programmes.
Facilities for testing building materials such as cement, brick, aggregates, concrete, steel etc. are available in the department. Advanced softwares on Structural Analysis and Design are available at the Computer Centre of the Department. These facilities are being used for providing consultancy services to various private and Government organizations. The faculty in the department is actively involved in research and development and generating revenue for the institute and Govt. of Maharashtra.
